I’m Erin Haligowski. I live in Springboro, Ohio with my husband Scott and our golden retriever, Hiro. I’m a mother to Alexander Scott Haligowski, born into heaven on July 9, 2016. As a bereaved mother, I write about grief and life after such an incredible loss.

By day I serve as the Director of Youth & Family Ministries at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Dayton, Ohio. I previously served in youth ministries at Parma Lutheran Church in Parma, Ohio and Grace Lutheran Church in Fremont, Ohio and spent several summers as a camp counselor for Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in Ohio. As a person passionate about ministry with young people and their families, I write about faith, ministry, and how all of those things have been affected by my experiences of life after the loss of our son Alexander.

I grew up in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. I received my undergraduate education at Ashland University, graduating in 2007 with a B.A. in Religious Studies and minors in recreational ministry and mathematics. After getting my feet wet in youth ministry during my summers as a counselor at Camp Mowana and a year at Grace Lutheran Church in Fremont, I decided to pursue further theological education at Ashland Theological Seminary, graduating in 2011 with my Masters of Divinity.

I love drinking a good cup of coffee, and enjoy that coffee even more when it is paired with reading a thought-provoking book or sharing meandering conversations with a dear friend. I am a productivity junkie, interested in understanding and practicing leadership, slightly obsessed with social media, and trying to figure out ministry with the next generation of Jesus followers and life after the loss of a child.
