Tennis balls. Wisdom. It’s the perfect combination coming from my friend, classmate, and youth ministry colleague, Craig, as we graduate and step forward into whatever great adventure God is taking us on. I have always appreciated Craig’s playfulness (always carrying a tennis ball to keep energy focused during class) balanced with a depth of insight that we need more of in youth ministry. The gift of tennis balls inscribed with playful wisdom is perfect. And so, this morning, as we are lining up for commencement and receiving the fruits of three long years of labor (and many more for some of our classmates!), enjoy some of Craig’s “non-spiritual tips for longevity in ministry,” care of a very wise tennis ball from a wise and playful friend.
- Don’t take yourself too seriously.
- Take time to play.
- Laugh with friends.
- We’re all in this thing together.
